Welcome to Kahle Counseling
Shannon Kahle, LPCC-S
Counseling Details
I provide in-person counseling services to adults located in Chagrin Falls and surrounding communities, and online throughout Ohio, helping individuals working through grief and those struggling with a range of anxiety and depression related disorders. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so that we determine if we are a good fit.
My specialties are working with adults navigating sudden loss, anxiety disorders, and depression.
With a background in public agency, academic, and private practices, I have worked with a diverse range of clients, each with their own unique stories and needs. What remains constant in my work is my passion for building a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship—where true healing happens when you feel seen, heard, and valued.
What to Expect
I don't want you to be in therapy forever... we can get straight to the root, do the work, obtain the skills you need, and you can become your own therapist. My goal is to furnish a safe place to explore the depth of your experience, and provide methods to process emotion, reform negative thinking and behavioral patterns and learn effective coping strategies. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy with other techniques from mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. I will tailor my approach based on your needs and personal strengths, integrating attachment theory and evidence-based approaches to traumatic loss as necessary to help you reach your goals.
My Background
I lost my husband suddenly, traumatically at age 40. I was devastated. I was not okay; the trauma of sudden loss drops the grieving person into a mental, physical and spiritual maze. After I was helped to find the way forward to a future I hadn’t thought was possible, I knew I had to help others who have experienced loss, including sudden loss. I transitioned from my social sciences PhD and academic career to “re-graduate” from The University of Akron with a Masters degree in clinical mental health counseling, and earned my Professional Clinical Counselor license. In my nine years of counseling for a wide range of issues, I have had the privilege of working with many grief clients as they, too, have made a path forward.
I am an independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a supervision designation to provide clinical and training supervision to trainees and associate-level therapists. Ohio LPCC-S #E.2303304.
“The profound and far-reaching changes that a trauma brings can therefore bring about profound and far-reaching changes to our sense of who we are and what we are doing with our lives – what direction we want that journey to go in. This, then, is the root of transformation.”
- Neil Thompson, Handbook of Traumatic Loss
